The Fall

Who is right for us and who isn't is oft dictated, not by our hearts, but by the things that we unwisely believe in.

The Fall

Collaborated work

I knew I could never fall for him,
Because his words only made me soar.
Only some days, their depth made me drown.

So meticulous, yet so blurry.
He wanted to know everything about me,
'Take it slow, what's the hurry?'
But slow wasn't his thing,
And neither was small talk.
A new soul every time he would call,
Either talked for five hours,
Or not at all.
Always read between the lines,
Yet so oblivious to the obvious.
Talked about leaving his sorrow behind,
But his eyes refuted,
A poet is hard to love, I concluded.

I knew I could never fall for him,
Because his words only made me soar,
Only some days, their depth made me drown.

----

He knew she’d never fall for him
Because she’d accept the love she thought she deserved
Only some days, her voice told him otherwise

So wild yet so shy; loved to fly yet sought shelter
He knew her better than she knew herself
Intense, passionate and overwhelming with emotions
That was the only way he knew
What hurt him weren’t the bullets she fired at him
But her words which he took to heart
Each time he read between the lines
After all, poets tend to get ahead of themselves
So he had to settle for a world without her
To see the smile on her face
For him, it wasn’t just flames and sparks
But the undying warmth of love she could never see
She didn’t know love, he concluded

He knew she’d never fall for him
Because she’d accept the love she thought she deserved
Only some days, her voice told him otherwise
